I grew up Country - so I cry Country Tears.... Right

Ok, Now like every other girl in the 70's I grew up singing
Delta Dawn what's that flower you got on could it be a faded.... from days gone by
and then there was the
LIKE A RHINESTONE COWBOY - yep then my brother would go "boing boing"
"getting card and letters from people I don't even know"

I even had the origional Donny and Marie "I'm a little bit Country - and I'm a little bit Rock and Roll. I was really cool.

Yesterday I tried to sing the whole song "YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE" in front of my son to my husband just for fun. Funny how we forget some of the words. I did make up some great new ones and we laughed and laughed till Callie (the dog) thoughed it was tickle time!

Here is the kicker.
I have all along made my kids (ok they havn't been tied down I have let them listen if they want to) listen to all sorts of stuff and it just so happens that C. W. McCALL Convoy was one of my favorites so we played it alot. So was Johnny Cash. Well Johnny Cash just passed away. So.... His songs are popular and we didn't plan on that. It is strange that he was still writing music till his dying day. I am so taken back by what it is and says that I just have to share it. So many emotions have I been through the last year that it seems like his life has been mixed with mine somehow and in that I feel the need to share this video. Maybe there is a message for us all in it somehow!!

If you haven't heard Johnny's final album, American V: A Hundred Highways, and you're a country music fan, then you're missing out. Producer Rick Rubin summed it up best when he said, "These songs are Johnny's final statement. They are the truest reflection of the music that was central to his life at the time. This is the music that Johnny wanted us to hear." Listen to “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” http://christianmusic.about.com/b/a/257016.htm

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down

Convoy was, (but not after the millionth time in the car, as Buck did not want anything else), and do enjoy it occasionally now. I also enjoy the other ones, but Kenny Rogers is still my favorite one.

AND Freddy Fender (god rest his soul) who died this last week. I do know the whole lyrics to "Coward of the County" and "The Gambler" of course intermixed with "You Light Up My Light" I’m sure :)
But I always did enjoy those tapes and road trips - WE as a family did didn't we that one simple little tape player. Now everyone has their own IPODS and listens to their own music. Music is no fun if you don't share it.
FOR YOU MOM
"Buy me a rose, call me from work
Open a door for me, what would it hurt
Show me you love me by the look in your eyes
These are the little things I need the most in my life"

I have roses now on my mantle and Torrey has a Rose from her Daddy.
I posted YOUR ROSE!!
I love YOU!!

Johnny's song was not written about you but for you!! understand!!

There were questions I did this for someone else I didn't I did this for another reason... please read on... from MY SPACE!

I think Johnny Cash was making right with himself - I did this blog for my MOM who was left by my Dad in 1987. Left her with my brother who was 14 at the time (I was in college). In fact I just brought home Andrew for the first time to meet my parents. He just left her COLD! Didn't tell her, drove out and told me. The coward. So...

No other story but that one for this one to read into it! But if you need to get right with GOD then you got something out of it too and I'm glad!!
