I watched a boy become a Man this weekend...

It was simple - it was in Hebrew - The reading was Joshua 2 1-24 ... and in less than two hours this 13 year old became a Man. I saw him today and funny he even walked taller. He was walking with his grandfather and talking about how fast his grandfather could run. I was in my back yard and I was watching as he was giving his grandfather praise for how smart and strong he was. WOW - He was a Man - talking like a Man - I even get chills just thinking about it right now.

TRADITION - I went to a Bar Mitzvah of one of my daughter's best friends and one of my friend's sons this weekend and all I could think of was how for thousands of years that 13 year-olds were doing the same thing by getting up there and becoming a Man. I also found it so cute that my daughter had to whisper in my ear "you know this doesn't just automatically make him now a MAN". I of course just had to chuckle. I wonder "Why" she is so concerned about us calling him a Man now.... hmmmm

I will say I have never been prouder of another person's child (not my own). My own boy was only playing three games of soccer and one game of baseball on that same day but he is only 12. Not yet a Man (wink wink). I was thrilled to be able to be a part of this Bar Mitzvah. The party later that day watching the boys vs the girls in MAN hunt (no pun intended) was just the icing on the cake!!! It was a great day!!

Sticks and stones break my bones BUT those names you call us well.... They just make YOU look bad in the end

OK, am I a fat cow???? OK, I'm not asking to get an answer because of course you can't really answer me but I'm asking because someone called me a fat cow many times over and over and over again (don't worry not to MY face but to someone else) and I just wonder why anyone would want to call someone something like a fat cow. So here goes. OK, am I a fat cow????
Now I NEVER did anything to this person except I was her friend and trusted her and she just liked to name call. Not just me but others as well. So.... If I am a FAT COW this is how I visualized me - I AM A BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL FAT COW. ONE WHO SPARKLES AND SHINES AND EVERYONE SEES MY TRUE BEAUTY. www.karenfincannon.com/ cowpaint.htm
I think I got the better deal....
being just called fat - being called something that had to do with something that was about my outward appearence.
At least I wasn't being picked on about my dumbness. Mr. Magoo. How would you like to be compared to him.
Name calling.... kind of like that pointing thing where you are pointing one finger but the three are pointing back at you....
My daughter said it best, when an adult has to start name calling - it sure makes the adult seem childish. oh well - can't make them stop - just call them on it!!

I Love RICE!!
Now, Why wasn't I invited to THIS party.... OH... the MUD!! well they looked like they were having a pretty good time. Now TEAMWORK this is what I LOVE seeing. This is why we are here enjoying Misawa, enjoying getting to know the culture and getting to know how to participate in the good old fashion way of planting my favorite food RICE.

Now - it has been over a week and I have to go look for those pants - I don't think I have washed them.... hmmmm
