It was simple - it was in Hebrew - The reading was Joshua 2 1-24 ... and in less than two hours this 13 year old became a Man. I saw him today and funny he even walked taller. He was walking with his grandfather and talking about how fast his grandfather could run. I was in my back yard and I was watching as he was giving his grandfather praise for how smart and strong he was. WOW - He was a Man - talking like a Man - I even get chills just thinking about it right now.
TRADITION - I went to a Bar Mitzvah of one of my daughter's best friends and one of my friend's sons this weekend and all I could think of was how for thousands of years that 13 year-olds were doing the same thing by getting up there and becoming a Man. I also found it so cute that my daughter had to whisper in my ear "you know this doesn't just automatically make him now a MAN". I of course just had to chuckle. I wonder "Why" she is so concerned about us calling him a Man now.... hmmmm
I will say I have never been prouder of another person's child (not my own). My own boy was only playing three games of soccer and one game of baseball on that same day but he is only 12. Not yet a Man (wink wink). I was thrilled to be able to be a part of this Bar Mitzvah. The party later that day watching the boys vs the girls in MAN hunt (no pun intended) was just the icing on the cake!!! It was a great day!!
